An Invitation to a Booktalk Event in Columbus!

Dear Friend and Reader:
 
A warm welcome to the August blogpost of Leslie Powell Ahmadi, the author of a newly released book called The Road Between Hearts: A Memoir of a Black American Woman Discovering Iran (available through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and other platforms).
 
Did you know that the date AUGUST 29 is tied to various and sundry memorable events?
For example, August 29

• is the birthday of Michael Jackson, the “King of Pop”
• mourns the death of the legendary film star Ingrid Bergman
• was declared International Day against Nuclear Weapons by the United Nations in 2009
• has also been declared Individual Rights Day
• is the date that the world-famous rock group, The Beatles, played their last paid concert (1966)
• is celebrated as National Lemon Juice Day (which is interesting, since, coincidentally, flavoring by lemons or fresh lemon juice is essential in multiple favorite Persian dishes)
• is also celebrated as National Chop Suey Day!

But today I’d like to point out another August 29-related event: my first talk and book-signing at a bookshop--to take place in just ten days or less from now)!
